Director of Education and Research

Eurospine
Overview

I work together with the education and research teams of EUROSPINE, a medical specialist society. Apart from my wonderful colleagues at EUROSPINE, the teams include numerous committees, task forces and councils of spine care specialists. The EUROSPINE teams work to enable spine care providers the ability to deliver high quality spine

care through education and research. We work very hard to deliver courses in innovative formats, collaborate with national societies and build up research capacity in the spine care community. We do a lot and for me, it is usually a challenge to explain what I do for a living. I

simply say that “I help patients with spine disorders get the best, the safest and the most comfortable treatment possible”.

Why did you join GAME?

I joined a GAME workshop at AMEE in Barcelona for the first time back in 2016. I was impressed with the group members, and more so of the mission GAME is trying to accomplish. The emphasis on collaboration and moving forward as a community together really struck a chord.

I would be very pleased to contribute where I can. There are many issues that need to be tackled. Immediately, what comes to my mind, is preparing
for the future in the CPD space. There are many ways that I could contribute within the GAME platform and I would like to be an effective supporter of GAME’s initiatives and help drive meaningful change and advance the profession of CPD globally.

It may be that by accident or destiny (one can never be sure of it), you find yourself in the medical education industry. In this happy accident, you have endless opportunities to make a significant difference in the care of patients which is after all the ultimate goal. You will also find yourself continuously challenged to surpass oneself as being in this business requires a vast array of skill sets and smarts. I cannot tell you how many times I have up-skilled! So I would advise those starting to say “bring it on” as one will surely find it a very exciting and fulfilling industry. I am very grateful to find myself here and moreover being continuously enriched with experiences and wisdom.
